This week I'm kicking off my training plan for the Brazos Bend 50k. I'm hoping that I still have some residual fitness left over from my last two marathon training cycles, to lean on. This is Brazos Bend 50k Training - Week 1.
My plan is 8 weeks and I'm incorporating some back to back runs. Truthfully, I'm a little worried that this plan I drew up isn't enough. I don't have any super long runs scheduled, and I have been taking it really easy the past few weeks. Again, I'm hoping that simply being in marathon training from June to January will help get me across the finish line.
I'm working on my strength training this cycle and increasing my cross training minutes. In February I joined Rachel for the Supermans, Squats, and Twists Challenge. If you haven't joined... you should, it's a lot of fun!
I'm trying to dial in my nutrition again. I've been practicing some intermittant fasting this month.
Brazos Bend 50k Training - Week 1
Monday - 4.5 miles easy pace. 60 supermans.
Tuesday - Strength session - upper body, 40 minutes stationary bike. 60 squats.
Wednesday - 4 miles easy pace. 60 Russian twists.
Thursday - Strength session - upper body, 30 minutes stationary bike. 70 supermans.
Friday - 5 miles progressive. 70 squats.
Saturday - REST
Sunday - Galveston Half Marathon.
Total Miles = 26.6
I'm linking up with HoHo Runs and Taking The Long Way Home for the Weekly Wrap.

You've done a lot of squats and supermans this week. Cross training is just as important as running. I'm sure you will be just fine during this training cycle.

A 50?!? Now that's very impressive!!! Good luck - this is going to be quite an adventure. What a good mix of strength training and runs this week.
ReplyDeleteYour last two marathon training cycles will serve you well for the 50k. Will it be a trail or road race? You can't go wrong with extra strength training either way. Thanks for linking!
ReplyDeleteGood luck! Sometimes less really is more -- I hope that you find it so.
ReplyDeleteEven more squats/supermen this week!
ReplyDeleteIt is!
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping so... Thanks Wendy!
ReplyDeleteIt should be an adventure! Thanks.
ReplyDeleteThis will be on a trail, but it's a very easy trail... mostly flat and not technical.
ReplyDeleteThanks! The less is more plan worked for my last marathon, hoping it works here too.
