8 in the training cycle. I'm halfway through my training plan! Chicago is less than 2 months away!
As I have been for the majority of this training cycle, 75% of my workouts have been on the treadmill. I had a speed work session and a tempo run this week, as the heat and humidity haven't eased up, I take to the treadmill early in the am before work. My long runs have been the only weekly run I've done outdoors, and by the end, I'm spent.
This week I was battling a bit of exhaustion, so I took a couple extra rest days. I kept up with my running workouts, but the cross training and strength went by the wayside.
Chicago Marathon Training - Week 8:
Monday - Rest.
Tuesday - 1 mile w/up & c/down, 12 x .25 mile at 5k pace with 0.2 mile recovery

Friday - 5 miles easy.
Saturday - 15 miles easy.
Sunday - Rest.
Total Miles = 33.5

Always smart to listen to your body and take those extra rest days!
ReplyDeleteIt seems like exhaustion was the name of the game this week. Here's hoping that we both don't feel as tired this week!
ReplyDeleteI feel like I've finally recovered from the exhaustion I was feeling earlier in the summer - I just couldn't muster up hitting my planned workouts. These last two weeks have finally felt normal - I hope you get back to normal soon!
ReplyDeleteEven with extra rest, you had a great week! Thursday's workout sounds like a tough one too!
ReplyDeleteI need to break up my long runs if I'm going to keep surviving them. I did 6 miles the day before my long run and I got 12 in outside the following day plus 4 indoors. I don't know what I can do besides that...I was miserable on my long runs. Florida is insane this time of year.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you rocked your training this week! Great job!!
