For a "low cost" sport, runners spend a lot on gear and nutrition, so it's nice when we can use our gear for other activities other than running. I've found non-running uses for a few of my running items.
Everyday Uses for Running Gear
Spandits - It isn't a secret that I love to run in my Spandits ... I love the colorful, fun patterns and the different lengths from boyshorts to tights. I have been enjoying wearing my capris with a long top to work or to travel in. They are so comfortable and and I think pretty fashionable.
I recently picked up a pair of Spandits in the boyshort length and decided to wear them as a swimsuit bottom on my recent vacation. I loved them to swim in... they fit great, were comfortable to swim in and dried pretty quickly, and I don't think my awkward tan lines showed too much. (You can get your own Spandits! at spandits.com, code spanditslove saves you 10%, be sure to tell them Vicki sent you.)
Nuun - I have tubes of Nuun at work and in my purse and use the Energy and Vitamins on a daily basis. I drink Nuun Active primarily when I run. I brought Nuun Active with me on vacation (since I was going to be running), but also filled up a water bottle to take to the beach... I think it kept me hydrated while I was out in the sun and indulging in drinks that dehydrate.
Garmin Forerunner 235 - I wear my Garmin watch on a daily basis, I know I'm at the cutting edge of fashion... it counts my steps and that in itself seems to justify the awkwardness of the large watch on my wrist all the time. I recently discovered that you can set alarms on it... that came in very handy while on vacation and wanting to make sure we didn't miss the snorkel trip or catamaran cruise.
Have you found uses for running gear other than running? Have you uncovered everything that your watch can do?
Today I'm linking up with MCM Mama Runs, Marcia’s Healthy Slice, and My no-guilt life for Tuesdays on the Run.

I have a Garmin Vivoactive, and I use it for everyday life (including the alarms) all the time. And now the charger has disappeared . . . I am NOT happy!
ReplyDeleteThat's interesting about the spandits as swim trunks!
I wish the watch wasnt quite so bit, but I get alot of compliments on it! I think fitness watches are becoming a bit more fashionable now. Its always nice was fitness gear can serve multiple purposes!
ReplyDeleteThe Spandits are so cute! I did wear my Inknburn skirt on my kayaking expedition last Friday...
ReplyDeleteI wear my Garmin as a watch too. I wish I had one that counted steps - it would certainly be more fun to have that.
ReplyDeleteI wear my one pair of Skirt Sports shorts for white water rafting and other water adventures. They are way more comfortable than a swim bottom and dry just as fast.
I really have not explored what my Garmin can do. I'm sure it's much smarter than I am! :-)
ReplyDeleteI wear old running shoes as walking shoes and also wear my Oiselle tops to work and during the day as well. I know they're running clothes but still cute enough to wear everyday.
ReplyDeleteMy Garmin watch has really grown on me and I love to wear it all the time too. I pretty much live in my workout clothes can you have too many?
ReplyDeleteI've been thinking about getting an extra charger for my Garmin to have at work (just in case).

ReplyDeleteI think you are right... I see people wearing fitness watches more and more.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I think the performance fabrics really work well for water sports.
ReplyDeleteI need to pay more attention to the steps... it's a nice feature to have.
ReplyDeleteI just inadvertently learned it counts sleep too, someone needs to teach a class on these things :-)
