I'm joining the Weekly Wrap link up hosted by Holly at

As mentioned on last week's post, I have decided to add HIIT training and planks to my workout routine. The HIIT workouts were tough, and I was sore from them for a few days, but it was a good kind of sore.
Sunday - Rest
Monday - 4 miles easy + strides (4x 20 sec. with 2 min recovery)
Tuesday - HIIT workout & 30 sec plank
Wednesday - HIIT workout & 30 sec plank
Thursday - Easy 4 miler (average pace 10:55) & 45 sec plank
Friday - 6 miles, 1 mile slow, then 4x 1 mi fast with 2 min recovery, 1 mile slow & 45 sec plank
Saturday - 1 min plank
TOTAL Miles = 14

Good week! That HIIT stuff looks like a great way to get some cross training in. Sometimes I get bored with doing the same old stuff... may have to look into incorporating that once I'm done with my current training cycle.
ReplyDeleteHi, Vicki. Welcome to the Weekly Wrap! Between running days, I do my PT exercises (hips and glutes) and planks. I would eventually like to incorporate a HIIT workout since it doesn't take much time. I see you recently ran a half marathon (my favorite!). Are you training for a specific race right now or just building a base? Thanks for linking with us. We hope to see you again next week.
ReplyDeleteI'm training for the "Run Like a Diva" half in Galveston on Apr 24 now.
ReplyDeletePlanks are great and so convenient to do anytime, anywhere. I do not know why I don't do them move often! Great workout week!!
ReplyDeleteNIce to meet you Vicki! We are very glad to have you join us this week for the Weekly Wrap! I do hope you will make it a habit! Tell me about the HIIT workout the 24x10x30 reps, sets, time? There is a HIIT class at our gym and I've been tempted to try it. I do try and go 2x a week now in addition to my running. Sometimes it so challenging to get in everything!
ReplyDeletethe HIIT workout is an app on my phone. It is called 12 minute athlete. After you select time and equipment, you shake your phone and it tells you what to do. I really like that I can do it anywhere.
ReplyDeleteI really like the HIIT, the workout changes each time... I use an app for my phone called 12 minute athlete.
