Bunions Suck!

I have a large bunion on my right foot.  It is ugly. The bunion itself doesn't hurt, but I have a feeling that it is causing some aches and pains that I am having.  A few weeks ago, I was in a great deal of arch pain after my long run.  After consulting "Doctor Google", I had decided that I had transitioned into my zero drop shoes too quickly.

I took a week off and started mixing back in my "traditional" running shoes with more support.  The shorter runs felt fine, but on my 12 mile long run (wearing my Brooks Glycerins) it started up again.  This time it was coupled with my toes being squished! So... I consulted "Doctor Google" again and found this:

Adductor and Abductor Hallucis

The adductor hallucis is a muscle that runs horizontally across the top of the foot, forming a V-shape with its center at the big toe. The abductor hallucis runs lengthwise on the medial inside of the foot along the arch. Pain in either of these two areas can feel like extensor tendonitis or plantar fasciitis pain. But, runners can clearly identify a tight and sore abductor hallucis from a plantar problem because the muscle isn't on the bottom of the foot but rather on the inside of the arch.

I am taking it easy for the next few days, still working on foot strength exercises and stretching out. I ordered a bunion bootie to try, I hope that it will help keep my big toe pointing straight.
