This week was a bit of a challenge with running. I am in my 8th week of training for the Houston Half. After my run on Sunday, my right foot started hurting. I started RICE treatment, and then my left foot started hurting on Thursday.
I decided to play it safe for a few days. Tuesday’s run got postponed to Wednesday. Then, Thursdays run just got called off as my “good foot” started hurting. I thought it best to take a page from my goals for the month and listen to my body. It was tough, but necessary.
Here’s how my week shook out:
Sunday – 12 miles – I was supposed to run 5 miles slow, then 3 miles fast, followed by the final 4 miles slow. I enjoyed the workout, and felt no pain. My fast splits were supposed to be between 10:15- 10:25 in actuality they were (10:45/9:55/9:38)… I should be happy that they were reverse at least.
Monday – Rest. Continued icing the right foot.
Tuesday – Planned 6 x 800, 1 mile c/d & w/u. Actual – Rest. Continued icing the right foot
Wednesday – Planned
Rest 6 x 800, 1 mile c/d & w/u. Actual – 6 miles easy (average pace 12:10)… this run was H.A.R.D. – everything hurt.
Thursday – Planned -6 miles with 4 miles fast (10:00-10:20). Actual Rest.
Friday – Rest.
Saturday – Rest
Total miles = 18
