Workouts – Last Week Today – December 25

fontover_201671013354641-1.jpgI’m in my 13th week of training for the Houston Marathon. Race day is 3 weeks away!! I’ve finished out my highest mileage runs and I’m headed into the taper.

It was a great week of running, kicking off with the Santa Hustle Half in Galveston. I changed around my workouts a bit so that I wasn’t running my long run on Christmas day (and ended the week with some pretty high mileage).  Here is how my week played out:

Sunday – 14 miles total.  1 mile warm up, then a half-marathon in Galveston.  It was  challenging one with 35 “feels like temps” and 35-40 mph winds. I hope to get the recap for that race up this week.

Monday – I had 4 easy miles on the schedule, but opted to rest. My calf was acting up so I took care to do some extra foam rolling and stretching.

Tuesday – Rest.

Wednesday –  8 miles progressive (sort of…) 11:13/10:35/10:41/10:33/10:00/9:51/9:36/9:18.

Thursday – Basics Yoga class.

Friday – 8 miles steady.

Saturday – 16 miles.  I was supposed to speed it up for a fast finish, but with the heat and humidity… I just didn’t have it in me and kept it at a steady pace.

Total Miles = 46

I’m linking up with HoHo Runs and MissSippi Piddlin’ for the Weekly Wrap; and Nicole, Annmarie, Jen, and Michelle for Wild Workout Wednesday.

It’s amazing how the mileage keeps creeping up and it doesn’t seem like all that much when you are actually running it.

Amazing job, I don’t think I could ever handle that much mileage! Great job on the progression run too!

Very impressive week of miles, Vicki! I know you are so happy to start tapering now. I ran a bit more mileage this training cycle and hope it makes for stronger final miles in the marathon. Right now, I feel tired! I’m a little worried about the heat & humidity. Fingers crossed that Mother Nature is kind to both of us on race day. Wow — great job in running your half in high winds. Thanks for linking!
