Today I’m joining the lovely ladies for Tuesdays On The Run. Where we talk about a different topic each week that is running related.
Today’s topic is “Post Race Rituals and Rewards”
I’ve got a few things that I do after a race, particularly a half marathon… they are aimed towards recover and re fueling.
After crossing a finish line, I grab a bottle of water so that I can get myself rehydrated, I drink about 4 oz. Shortly after that I head towards the bag pick-up and get my shaker bottle that I’ve filled with a scoop Vega Sport Recovery Accelerator and I pour the rest of the water in there and drink.
In the meantime, I’ll change into my OOFOS for comfort and walk around the festivities at the finish area. I’ll usually grab a banana. I try to stay on my feet as much as possible before heading to the car to head home.
Once home, I make it a point to foam roll really good. I also take a bath with Epsom salt, baking soda, and lavender oil.
Sometimes I’ll take a nap, other times I will go straight to figuring out what I want to put in my belly. The reward part seems to be centered around food! Some of the time, I know exactly what it is that I want for my post-race meal.
