Running strong and plant powered

October Runfessions

Happy Friday!

It just feels like we were here in the runfessional just days ago.  Fall has finally made it to Houston and we are getting temps that don’t make you feel like you are melting. The days are getting shorter… too short.  I’m ready for a weekend and a race, but first I need to get some things off my chest.

October Runfessions

I RUNFESS…

I’m running a half marathon on Sunday and I haven’t really thought much about it.  In fact, I haven’t even thought about goals for this race.  Maybe I’ll just “wing it”.

October Runfessions

I’m only running 3x/week on this marathon training cycle… it feels odd, but I’m really enjoying it.  I have time to do cross training and get some strength in without feeling too overwhelmed.

October Runfessions

With all my hoping for cooler weather, I’m a little concerned that this weekend is going to be too cold… we may get temps down in the 30s. Parka anyone?.

October Runfessions

I hadn’t really cooked much from my Run Fast Eat Slow cookbook until this week.  The recipes are so good!  I’ve had sweet potato breakfast cookies, kale radiccio salad with farro, and the curried lentil stew with charred cauliflower this week.

October Runfessions

Maybe it’s all the good food, cooler weather, or increased workouts… but I seem to be wanting to eat #allthefood.  I even wake up hungry (that has never happened). Thankfully, I’ve been able to keep it mostly healthy, except for that one bag of olive oil & rosemary popcorn.

October Runfessions

What do you have to runfess?

I’m linking up with Running on Happy & Fairytales and Fitness for the Friday Five 2.0 linkup and with Marcia’s Healthy Slice for Runfessions.

The curried lentil stew and cauliflower sounds really nice!

It’s good to wing it sometimes in a race and just run for the fun of it. If you’ve not trained with a goal in mind then there’s no point in setting a big goal now so just have fun!

I feel like i “wing” a lot of races I do, but somehow my body can adapt to it. It is hard to think about races when they are not right around the corner. January seems so long away, but I guess it’ll be here before you know it. Time flies!

You just reminded me that I still need to make the sweet potato breakfast cookies from the cookbook!

I hope that your half marathon goes well this weekend!

Wendy gave me that cookbook and I need to try more recipes! I’ve been lazy with cooking lately. I think winging it will get you a great half experience. Those are the most fun races. Good luck!

I haven’t tried a recipe from the book that was bad… I’m not able to make all of them since I’m vegetarian.
