I’ve missed out on 2 of my regularly scheduled runs and a make-up run and I’m really feeling down in the dumps! Does this happen to anyone else?
Thursday night I was scheduled to run 4 miles, but right before I put on my running clothes, the heavens opened up and there was lots of thunder and lightening. My “safety officer” called off my run. Ok, I thought… I can make up the run the next day, I did some yoga.
On Friday evening I was watching the radar… things were firing up, I changed quickly to head out the door 30 minutes early and wouldn’t you know it, it started to storm! Feeling defeated, I decided to break out the “12 Minute Athlete” app on my phone and do a 16 minute HIIT (high intensity interval training). The random workout I got seemed to focus mostly on my legs, I felt fine until the next morning and all those muscles that you use when you do squats just came to life!
Saturday was 3 miles + strides day… I was able to pull that one off with no weather incidents!
Sunday, my legs were screaming… but in a good way. I had a full day and wanted to nap before I headed out for my 5 mile easy run. Can you believe it… I set the alarm wrong and OVERSLEPT… didn’t wake up until it was nearly dark outside. I spent the rest of the evening grousing around the house.
Tonight… I’ve got the make-up for my 5 mile easy run on the slate… will the weather cooperate with me??
