I signed up to run the Just Keep Running Virtual Race in July. I opted for the 5k, and ran it as a practice run for my Southern Star Brewing Co. 5k race. My goal was to keep a pace of 9:10-9:30/mile.
The Just Keep Running Virtual Run, was organized by Level Up Runs. This was my 4th virtual run I have participated in, and I enjoyed this experience as much as the first. You can choose your distance for the race – 5k, 10k, or half marathon.
It was a typical warm Houston day, but I got out in the morning before the temperatures soared. My route was mostly flat with a few small hills. I killed myself on the 2nd mile and had to take a walking water break on the 3rd mile. Turns out my splits were all over the place too 9:37/8:57/10:00. I finished up with a time of 29.31 (average pace 9:29).
When I finished, I entered in my details into the “Submit Your Results” area on levelupruns.com for accountability purposes.
A few weeks later, my medal came in the mail. It is very nice… and LARGE!
They really do a nice job on the medals at Level Up Runs… check out the detail and the messaging on the back.
The next Level Up Runs virtual race is the Dog Days run. This run will benefit Second Chance Love host Sanctuary dogs. (Read about it here) These dogs are unadoptable and need extra love and care. Because of this, they need & rely on donations to take care of these Sanctuary Dogs. For every entry, they will donate a toy, blanket, or a dog bowl.
Isn’t the medal cute? I plan on running the 10k. Who else is in? You can save 10% on registration by using code SAVE10 when you register here.
… and here’s a BONUS… Level Up Runs is hosting a giveaway for a free entry into the Dog Days run, be sure to enter (contest closes on August 21).
