I’m recapping the past week of training for the Chicago Marathon. This was Chicago Marathon Training – Week 9 in the training cycle. I’m over halfway through my training plan! Chicago is under 50 days away!
To tell the truth, I was living in fear of this week… every workout on my plan seemed hard, and just looking at the week made me doubt myself. I took this week by the horns and rocked them all. I’d be lying if I said that I wasn’t looking forward to my cutback week coming up next week.
This week, I also ran a 10k on Saturday (recap coming soon)… my plan had a hard effort 6 miles the day before my long run. The only way I knew I could make that happen was to find a race and race it. I had a great time, but boy was it a steam bath! By the time I had finished, my shoes were literally squishing!
I decided to break up my long run this week. The past few ones I’ve been at the breaking point during the last couple miles and needing to take walking breaks more often (I start out doing .1 for each .9 mile and by the time the last 2 roll around it’s .1 for every .2 – yikes!) This week, I ran about 2/3 of it outside and the last 1/3 on the treadmill, only 3 walking breaks.
My exhaustion was so much better this week, but my pillow won the fight a few days. I only got 1 cross-training session in this week. I’m overall happy with the cleanliness of my diet, I’m going to try to kick it up a notch this upcoming week.
