Chicago Marathon Training – Week 11

Workouts Last Week TodayI’m recapping the past week of training for the Chicago Marathon.  This was Chicago Marathon Training – Week 11 in the training cycle. There are only 5 weeks of training left!

Harvey hit the Houston area pretty hard… we were spared from the damaging wind, rain, and flooding.  However, my gym was not… it was innundated with water, it got up to 6 feet. I am really missing the treadmill in these hot late summer days.  My workouts this week reflected that.

I got in all my prescribed running workouts, but missed out on cross-training and strength.

Chicago Marathon Training – Week 11:

Monday – Rest.

Tuesday – Rest.

Wednesday – 1 mile w/up & c/down; 5 x 1000 @ 10k pace.

Chicago Marathon Training - Week 11

Thursday – 1 mile w/up & 2 mile c/down, 3×1 mi @as close to 10k pace as I could get (was supposed to be 3×2 mi, but I was dying after the first fast mile)

Friday – 3 miles easy (had planned on 6, but I had a wardrobe malfunction… brought the wrong socks and no trail toes, felt a blister forming at mile 2, knowing I had my long run the next day, cut the run short).

Saturday – 18 miles easy .

Chicago Marathon Training - Week 11

Sunday – Rest.

Total Miles = 32

    Glad to hear that you are okay, but sorry to hear about your gym. I know that has to be rough. Hopefully they can do repairs and open again soon.

    Congrats on a great week of training, especially your long run!

      It is a bummer about the gym, but keeping it all in perspective, it could be so much worse! I’m enjoying our first cool front now, which was dreamy to run in last night!
