5 Race Strategies for Baytown Bud Heatwave Run

On Monday I will be celebrating the 4th of July by running in the Baytown Bud Heatwave 5 Mile Run in Baytown, TX.  As the name suggests, it is going to be hot, about 80 degrees at race start. I hadn’t intended on running this race, but signed up after I learned the Hubs was going to be out of town… a girl has to have fun too!

I have come up with 5 strategies to not sizzle out on the upcoming race:

  1. Stay hydrated!
  2. Listen to my body.
  3. Take walking water breaks, if necessary.
  4. Load up on sunscreen.
  5. Have fun … enjoy the race and the after party!

Is anyone else racing on July 4th?

    My sister plans on racing on Monday as well. And she was just saying this morning how she is nervous bc of the heat. I told her if she has to do a run/walk that’s ok. It is July, of course the races will be hot!
