5 Goals for Mission Tejas 25k

5 goals for mission tejas 25k

Sunday I will be running in the Mission Tejas Trail Run in Grapeland, TX and I’ve set 5 goals for Mission Tejas 25k.  This will be my fourth trail run for this year..  You could say that I am really enjoying trail runs.

I am running this as a training run, as it matches up to my training schedule almost perfectly.  My training schedule has 14 miles for my long run on Sunday… since I cut Monday’s run a little short, the extra will make up for it.  We are going to be blessed with near perfect running conditions – lows in the 60s/highs mid 80s… and low humidity.  To tell you the truth, I’m not sure if I’m more excited to run the trails or just to run in this weather!  Even though I’m using this as a training run,  I still have some goals for the day.

5 Goals for Mission Tejas 25k

  1. Practice pre-race meals (evening prior and breakfast).
  2. Execute on fueling and hydration strategy.
  3. Keep pace “steady” through the race.
  4. Don’t fall.
  5. Have fun!!

Any one else sign up for races as training runs?  Do you make goals for races other than time goals?

I’m linking up with Running on Happy & Fairytales and Fitness for the Friday Five 2.0 linkup!

Good luck and have fun!! I love running easy trails. Nothing too technical for me!

I like using races as training runs because it serves as a multi-tasking endeavor. Also, I don’t fee a s much pressure to PR because I need to focus on running the race smart (in other words, NOT crashing & burning before the finish line). And, getting a medal as a reward for my efforts is always legit 😉
