Workouts – Last Week Today – August 14

fontover_201671013354641-1.jpgHad another great week of running. I’m now in my 5th week training for the Houston Half.  This week was a pretty easy week, with all runs lower mileage and at easy effort.  I begin running 5 days a week next week.

The heat got cranked up another notch this week.  My weather guy says that this week is the peak of summer for Houston, so hopefully from here on out the temps will start easing back down.  It was still 100 degrees at 7:00 pm on Tuesday and 99 at 7:00 pm on Thursday.  Needless to say, I took it easy on my runs and took walking water breaks.

Saturday we took an overnight trip to Galveston. We had so much fun catching up with old friends! Unfortunately my planned kite flying didn’t go as planned as the kite I bought was missing a piece.

Here’s how my week shook out:

Sunday – 11 miles – 5 steady/3 fast/3 steady (average pace 11:09) my fast splits were 10:38/9:54/9:59.

Monday – Rest.

Tuesday – 4 miles easy effort (average pace 10:58).

Wednesday – Rest.

Thursday – 4 miles easy effort (average pace 11:09).

Friday – 4 miles easy effort (average pace 10:40).

Saturday – Rest.

Total miles = 23
